the passing of a legend: Alfred Pfaff

By: Ollie | January 1st, 2009

Eintracht Frankfurt is saddened to report the passing of legendary player Alfred Pfaff. A midfielder of over three-hundred matches between 1949 and 1961, he scored one-hundred three goals during the period and was part of the 1959 German Championship club.

Eintracht Frankfurt executive chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said of him:

“Alfred Pfaff was a symbol of our unity, the championship 1959 and successes in the European Cup 1960 is inseparably connected with its name.”

Frankfurts mayor Petra Roth said of his passing “Frankfurt mourns a football legend.”

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
