Alexander Meier or Caio
By: Ollie | January 19th, 2009Die Adler continues to work towards the re-start of the Bundesliga season and most of their lineup, excluding injury issues, have been settled. One issue that is outstanding is Friedhelm Funkel decision between Alexander Meier or Caio in the attack. In their final friendly, a uneventful 0-0 draw against TuS Koblenz they split time with Meier playing the first half.
In review of their play, both players showed a reasonable amount of creativity, or at least as much as you can for a scoreless match. For those who look towards Alexander Meier, he looks fully fit as the knee is healthy and showed particular connection with the play Nikos Liberopoulos. While he is likely to get the call, former Palmeiras-man Caio possess pace and aggressive going forward.
The Frankfurt manager is giving no clues in who will take the position against Hertha BSC on January 31, so I will leave it up to fellow Adler fans.
