In the first friendly of training camp, die Adler defeated second division club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen 4-1. With goals by Alexander Meier, Macedonian international Aleksandar Vasoski and two late strikes by new arrival Léonard Kweuke, Friedhelm Funkel noted his approval. Algarve training camp

the passing of a legend: Alfred Pfaff

Eintracht Frankfurt is saddened to report the passing of legendary player Alfred Pfaff. A midfielder of over three-hundred matches between 1949 and 1961, he scored one-hundred three goals during the period and was part of the 1959 German Championship club.
Eintracht Frankfurt executive chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said of him:
